Overview
The department emphasizes the student centered learning. The emphasize is more on student learning by practice type and less teach-centered style of teaching. Students do enjoy and appreciate field work classes and group discussion formats.
The department is attempting to re-train teachers using old style lecture-type classes with modern-style student-centered approaches.
The Social Work programme is offered by An-Najah National University.
Career Outcomes
- Our students are able to find jobs in all fields including ones that are not directly related to sociology and social work since they learn the skills that are usable in other career opportunities.
- Many of them can work in research, public relations, human relations and other non-sociology related fields. It’s not very hard for them to find jobs in other fields if they are flexible enough since they can adapt the skills that they learn in our program into other fields.
- We offer many courses through the Continuing Education in Sign language and Public Relations that many students are able to use in nontraditional sociology fields.
