The unprecedented development of digital technology is transforming social and human sciences, communication, health and social care, community life, and commerce. New digital connections raise economic, social and cultural challenges and opportunities for the next generation of leaders.

The mission of the Digital Social Science (Honours) programme at Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College is to develop students’ competencies in creating, compiling, collating, interpreting, presenting, and critiquing digital data across a range of key social scientific and humanities disciplines. By developing such competencies in digital literacy, the programme aims to inspire students to discover and develop their talents for lifelong learning and leadership in the rapidly emerging digital world.

Students will have the option of extending from these core disciplinary areas to selected further areas of educational policy, advertising, communication studies, space humanities, cultural management, artificial intelligence, internet of things and smart cities. The programme thus blends a strong technical component with critical skills, professional knowledge and opportunities for research within a broad liberal arts ethos.

Career Prospects

The Digital Social Science programme offers graduates a professional training to careers and further studies across a range of professional, public, and social sciences and humanities domains. This includes Social Policy Evaluation; Health Administration; Digital Media; 5G; Science Communication; Digital Public Relations; Digital Humanities; Talent Development; Innovation Management etc. After graduation, students can work in the fields of digital media, social media, web design, marketing, journalism, digital health, digital education, and government administration etc. Graduates can also pursue further studies in master's and doctoral programmes in the humanities and social sciences.According to statistics on the internet, recent graduates from two Digital Social Science programmes (The Rochester Institute of Technology of the US and the University of Maastricht of the Netherlands) currently engaged in following jobs:

High school transcripts
Two letters of recommendation
Personal Statement
Copy of passport
Scholarship Application Form (if any)

After all the above materials are provided and the requirements are met, International Development Office will register the application for the applicant.
