Overview
DGIST founded as a research institution in 2004 by the Korean government, expanded its roles as a research-oriented university by opening its graduate program in 2011 and undergraduate program in 2014. Under our aim of leading innovation and new discoveries, we conduct cutting-edge research to resolve the major challenges facing humanity, and educate talents to make the world a better place.
Structure
The open curriculum of the Transdisciplinary program at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology helps students organize their own self-designed concentrations. Each student’s concentration is determined at the time of graduation based on the courses taken, without the need for students to pre-declare it during their studies.
Programme Structure
- DGIST undergraduate programme holds ‘single-major’ system. At the first year, students study basic subjects on science and engineering. Then students get to design their own curriculum depending on ‘8 Tracks’. 8 Tracks indicate eight fields of science, and the tracks provide students with guidance for making their own academic plans.
Lecturers
All the lectures will be taught in English. At the freshman year, students will take basic level lectures on variety of disciplines in Science, along with lectures on humanities, social sciences and entrepreneurship. From sophomore, students can design their own curriculum depending on ‘tracks’, which signifies the field of science that students can follow.
