Overview
The DSPS curriculum of this Data Science and Policy Studies programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong will:
- Equip students with a full suite of skills in data science and AI, including skills in mathematics and advanced statistics, advanced programming for data science, machine learning, computer simulations, AR/VR applications, social network analysis, natural language processing, and advanced data visualisation. This suite of skills is what students need to become competent data scientists;
- Enable our students to apply these skills in one or more of the following applications: architecture, communication, economics, gender studies, international relations, public governance, sociology, social work and urban design; and
- Allow students to design their own concentration area and build their expertise in this area by choosing a mix of relevant skills and multidisciplinary courses (e.g., data science, migration and population policy).
Career Prospects
Students are trained to be policy makers, data analysts, entrepreneurs, consultants and communicators to work in the public and private sectors, including:
- Government organisations;
- Policy think tanks, consulting firms, and local and international NGOs;
- Science and technology companies; and
- Multinational corporations.
