Overview
CUHK and Tsinghua University have joined hands to offer a four-year, full-time undergraduate programme in Economics (Dual Degree - Tsinghua University) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong that examines international economic issues as well as erudition on the Chinese economy. The potential and implications for DDP graduates are incredibly exciting and pioneering. The medium of instruction of major courses is English.
Key Facts
- Prospective students are expected to spend half of the time in Tsinghua University. While CUHK covers crucial international economic issues, the Tsinghua programme provides further variety in several advanced fields of economics. Today, financial and economic sectors around the world value candidates who are highly skilled and educated, especially those who have a deep understanding of China’s economy and financial markets. By merging institutional strengths in economics, the DDP empowers students to develop insightful perspectives and analytical competence in unprecedented ways.
- Each year, 24 undergraduates join the cohort, receiving high-calibre education from acclaimed faculty members. First-year JUPAS and non-JUPAS students admitted are eligible to apply for admission scholarships. To help new students adapt to the DDP and their learning environment, a management committee, staffed by experienced teachers and administrators from both CUHK and Tsinghua University, has been established.
- We welcome and look forward to recruiting students who are keen on learning advanced logical reasoning and quantitative economic analysis. As the students will navigate both the mainland China and Hong Kong economies, prospective students should be broad-minded and open to new ideas, challenges and environments.
Career Prospects
- The DDP sharpens students’ logical and critical thinking, broadens their outlook, hones their ability to adapt to new environments, and ultimately, nurtures them to become all-round leaders with vast global networks.
- Graduates will be set up for success in all career destinations, particularly in fields such as finance, economic consulting, commerce and government policy.
