As English is one of the official languages in Hong Kong and Chinese offers inbound and outbound experiential learning and community-engagement opportunities to promote an enriched student experience, to develop students’ potential and widen their horizons, and to foster their leadership and whole-personal development. The English Studies and English Language Education degree is offered at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

• The compulsory 8- to 10-week overseas immersion programme further enhances students’ English language proficiency, enriches their understanding of the cultures of English-speaking communities, and expands their exposure to overseas educational practices.
• We aspire to nurture professional English teachers with conceptual and theoretical knowledge in subject matter, curricula and pedagogy; to develop reflective English teachers with a comprehensive view and insights into educational issues in the local and global contexts; and to produce effective English teachers with solid application skills for communication, teaching and research.
