Overview

Students at the Petroleum Engineering program from Satbayev University will know oil-gas well drilling technologies, oil reservoir assessments and characteristics, well logging and hydrodynamic research techniques, mechanized oil production technologies and systems, field development, secondary and tertiary oil production methods, as well as computer simulation of most of these processes.

Students have many opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in the field of petroleum engineering outside the classroom, including student organizations and industry internships as well.

Careers

Graduates acquire "Bachelor of Engineering and Technology" qualification and can work in the field of geology, geophysics, drilling, development and operation of oil-gas fields and expect to receive the highest starting salary among all engineers. In addition to traditional career choices in the oil industry, there are other new professions for graduates of petroleum engineering systems: in the field of pollution treatment, underground waste disposal (including underground carbon dioxide injection to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases) and hydrology.
