Overview
Political Science and International Human Rights Law program from The American University in Cairo enables students with good grades to prepare for a postgraduate degree while completing the requirements for their BA in Political Science, equipping you with expertise in international human rights law and justice. Learning Outcomes
- The dual degree option enables good students to prepare for a postgraduate degree while completing the requirements for the BA in Political Science.
- By the end of the sixth semester of the political science BA at AUC, and after successfully completing POLS 4371 , the student has to declare her/his intention to pursue the Dual Degree by submitting a graduate admission application. The student should follow the application procedures for graduate studies. Admission decisions will be made by the Law Department’s Admission Committee. Successful applicants will be admitted pending the fulfillment of two conditions: i) finishing the requirements of their undergraduate degrees with at least B (GPA 3); and ii) obtaining an average of at least a B+ (GPA of at least 3.3) across the three cross-listed ‘Dual Degree’ Law courses. Places are limited.
- Students enrolled in the dual degree will receive a political science BA degree certificate upon the completion of their undergraduate course requirements.

General requirements
- Submit the online application form; renewal from fall to spring is via email to enrolauc@aucegypt.edu
- New applications are required for a new academic year. Late applications are considered based on availability.
- Upload all required documents through the online portal; emails are not accepted. Applications are pending until all documents are submitted.
- Personal statement must be original; plagiarism checks apply. Two recommendation letters from high school teachers/counselors are mandatory; include their emails for automatic submission.
- Provide evidence of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo). Scores must be ≤2 years old. Send official TOEFL/Duolingo results; upload IELTS copy with TRF number.
- TOEFL "MyBest Scores" and IELTS "One Skill Retake" accepted. Placement concerns may lead to retake. Improved scores accepted until last working day before semester at 4 PM CLT.
