Overview
This HEC-accredited Botany programmeof the The University of Lahore combines academic theory with practical, hands-on experience. You will be equipped to address global challenges such as environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and climate change through in-depth studies of plant genetics, ecology, and biotechnology.
The curriculum is carefully structured to build your expertise, starting with foundational courses such as Diversity of Plants, Animal Diversity (Invertebrates and Chordates), Organic Chemistry, and General Chemistry. As you advance through the programme, you will engage with more specialised topics, including Plant Systematics, Anatomy and Embryology, Plant Biochemistry, Biodiversity and Conservation, and Molecular Biology. In the later semesters, courses like Mycology and Plant Pathology and Plant Physiology will enhance your knowledge in these key areas. You will also have opportunities to explore real-world applications by working on a research thesis or by studying electives such as Phytohormones and Plant-Microbe Interactions.
A strong emphasis is placed on research and hands-on learning, with practical coursework in areas such as plant physiology, ecology, and plant-microbe interactions. Through the department’s collaboration with the Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine (CRiMM) and guidance from the Industrial Advisory Board, you will stay aligned with industry trends and emerging research, and you can also pursue internships to gain valuable real-world experience.

General requirements
- 12 Year of Education, Higher Secondary School Certificate / Intermediate with Minimum 2nd Division.
- 16 Year BS Botany: Those who have completed 14 Year of education (B.Sc) or equivalent, a fast track enrollment is allowed in the 5th semester along with 4 Year BS Botany Program. Deficiency courses may be offered to those who are in need of it
- UOL Entry Test is mandatory.
