Program Description

In pursuance with HEC intent the Science Education program of The University of Lahore has been designed to be more knowledge enriched than the master degree teaching. In the first two years (four semesters), program being offered at University of Lahore, Department of Education, the students will be exposed to different combinations of traditional discipline like Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, Mathematics and Physics and then students will have the option to choose any subject as their area of specialization which would continue for the next two years (four semesters).

The teachers like other professionals are required to be well abreast with the realities on ground regrading school community and students. At The University of Lahore, under this program, the prospective teachers will be exposed to short and long-term teaching practices enabling the understanding of work culture and stipulated ethics transition possible to the classroom.

Intellectualism remains dormant without orientation and practice of critical thinking. Reflective thinking may be made to grow by providing on the issues and problems scattered around like education its effectiveness and tangibility this would enable the students to multiculturalism, pluralism and transformation in the society. Hence a blend of content, pedagogical and professional courses (DOUBLE MAJOR) has been provided in the scheme of studies to prepare prospective science teachers as professionals in education and serve the country in the field of science teaching at elementary, secondary and higher secondary level.
