Overview
Offering three specialisations: International Relations, Governance and Public Policy, and Development Studies, our curriculum is designed to help you build critical thinking and research skills, qualifying you to examine complex international relations and approach global and regional challenges from a multidisciplinary lens.
The International Relations specialisation prepares you to navigate complex global dynamics and excel in leadership roles within international affairs. Through courses in globalisation, international political economy, culture, society, security, development, peace and conflict resolution, and foreign policy analysis, you will gain a thorough understanding of global systems and their societal impacts. The Governance and Public Policy specialisation, on the other hand, emphasises economics and social policy, leadership and policy-making, artificial intelligence and global affairs, public management, global governance, and social planning. Meanwhile, the Development Studies specialisation focuses on human resource management, sustainable development, economic growth, the sociology of development, and issues of gender and conflict in development contexts.
Through carefully structured course contents and a mandatory internship, you will develop the analytical skills to conceptualise and address global challenges, learning about convergence and conflicts. Our programme also provides you with foundational skills in critical thinking and discourse analysis, enabling you to engage meaningfully in societal debates. In addition, SISS provides a supportive academic environment where you can pursue personal and career development goals and impactful positions in diverse professional fields.
Career Prospects
A BS in Social Sciences (BSSS)at The University of Lahore , with specialisations in International Relations, Development Studies, and Governance & Public Policy, provides graduates with a versatile skill set and understanding of societal, political, and economic dynamics.
