Program Details
The first 2 semesters of the Sociology program from Marmara University are compulsory and in the following semesters, elective courses are given in addition to the compulsory courses.
A graduate student from the sociology program can work in the fields of market research, advertising sector, media and press in non-governmental organizations, human resource management, social services and hospitals, community centers as well as research companies (opinion polls). It can undertake tasks such as leading the establishment of museology and city museums and ensuring the establishment of social history museums. They may have the opportunity to work in the fields of tourism and publicity. In the same way, the creation and execution of art galleries and the realization of various cultural organizations in the city (cinema, theater, documentary) can be put forward as fields of study for a student who has graduated from the sociology program. Apart from the above areas, a student who has graduated from the sociology program can find the opportunity to work in various fields in the fields of counseling (organization, institution, group, family counseling), planning and guidance in the public and private sectors, consultancy in international organizations such as UNDP, WB, UNICEF, ILO, tourism and promotion.

- Students wishing to enroll in the department must complete the processes determined by ÖSYM within the framework of the university's academic and legal regulations and successfully pass the TM-3 exam.
- Students studying in other sociology departments in Türkiye may apply to our department depending on their GPA and the department's quota.
