Overview

The main goal of The Medicine Degree Program study program at George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures is to provide students with a holistic introduction to all fields, skills and abilities relevant to the profession.

Quick Facts:

This includes the teaching of basic knowledge about bodily functions, the learning of human pathology – including emotional aspects as well as the acquisition of knowledge and skills needed for diagnostics, therapy, prevention and rehabilitation – and the development of communication skills.
The preclinical phase takes place predominantly in Germany. The first three years of study include three modules of two weeks each, which are completed in Targu Mures. The clinical phase (3rd to the 6th year) can be completed in clinics from all over Germany (Option A) or in Targu Mures (Option B).
The degree in human medicine consists of six years altogether. The language of instruction is English. The clinical-practical phase of the program takes place in German teaching hospitals in English/German.

General requirements

The prerequisite for studying at UMCH is a general university entrance qualification. It is also possible to apply with a non-German school degree – provided that the respective school diploma corresponds to the German Abitur (e.g., A-Levels or International Baccalaureate).
If you are an EU citizen and you hold a higher education entrance qualification, no specific average grade is required to apply for the program. Admission takes place via an internal university selection procedure.
Language skills: English (no English certificate required) and German (B2) for clinical internships in Germany
The application process includes the assessment of your application documents and the UMCH admission procedure, which consists of an English-language motivation-based interview and a subsequent brief evaluation.
