Overview
The BA programme in Danish is designed to help students rapidly achieve good proficiency in spoken and written Danish, as well as knowledge of Danish society, culture and literature.

At the conclusion of Danish programme at University of Iceland, the student shall be able to demonstrate knowledge, ability and skills beyond that achieved at the previous level, as listed below:
- Students have acquired the language and know its rules and language usage and other teachings relating to it (grammar, linguistics).
- Students have acquired an extensive knowledge of the literary and cultural history of the Danes and also knowledge of the principal literary concepts and theories.
- Students are able to understand many kinds of challenging and complex texts and comprehended their direct and indirect meaning.
- Students are able to express themselves unimpeded and fluently with correct pronunciation (without needing to search for words or expressions) and differentiate subtleties of meaning even in different contexts.
- Students are able to use the language, both in discussions and in writing, persuasively and successfully in diverse social, academic and professional settings.
- Students are able to write clear, detailed and well-structured texts on various topics.
- Students have demonstrated their command of vocabulary, stylistics and techniques in producing well-ordered, coherent and straightforward texts.

- Icelandic matriculation examination. (stúdentspróf: school leaving examination from secondary school) or equivalent qualification. Students are required to have language proficiency on the B2 level as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
