Overview

The Bachelor of Sciences in Physics with Education at University of the West of Scotland allow you to develop the knowledge and skills required to teach Physics at Secondary School level. You will study Physics to Honours level and your studies will contain all of the core material of the Physics degree, including quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, atomic, nuclear and particle physics. In additional, you will also develop your teaching skills in years 3 and 4 by taking modules in Education and practical school placements.

This degree combines an Institute of Physics-accredited degree with the training necessary to become a physics teacher.
You will get classroom experience in three schools placements during Year 4 of the programme.
There is a high demand for secondary- school physics teachers in Scotland and the UK.
The physics modules are delivered by staff who are carrying out research at the forefront of their fields.
The programme is accredited by (i) the Institute of Physics (IoP), which allows you to register as a Chartered Physicist following graduation; and (ii) General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) which recognises the degree’s professional education training which allows you to develop as a secondary school teacher.
