Overview

Throughout the Bachelor of Arts - Psychological and Behavioural Sciences course from The University of Western Australia you will develop an understanding of the cognitive and neural processes underlying behaviour; research methods in psychology; the measurement of psychological behaviour and abilities; the development of knowledge and abilities across the lifespan; and the processes that govern the relationships between people and groups in a multicultural society.

The programme will develop your scientific understanding of human thoughts and behaviours, the psychological processes underlying these and the relationship of these processes to brain function.

You will find an emphasis on the measurement of psychological abilities, how these develop through the lifespan and the processes that govern the relationships between people and groups in a multicultural society. You will also develop an understanding of how psychological processes are affected by ageing, brain damage and disease.

To be eligible for UWA’s undergraduate degrees based on previous or current Australian Year 12 studies, applicants must have completed the relevant state Certificate of Education and achieved an Australian Tertiary Aggregate Rank (ATAR) of 75 or above. Applicants must also provide evidence of satisfying UWA’s ELC requirements.

Applicants completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) are required to successfully complete the diploma program. To be eligible for UWA’s undergraduate degrees, IB graduates will require a minimum score of 24 or higher (this may vary depending on the level of mathematics undertaken).
