Overview
Students enrolled in the History undergraduate program at Yeditepe University have the opportunity to fully benefit from this education by meeting face to face with the lecturers at least twice a week on the specified meeting dates. In addition, within the scope of the History Seminars organised every semester, they have the opportunity to meet and listen to the guest researchers from Turkey and abroad.History is a science that analyses the events of the past within the framework of place, time and cause and effect. The science of history should be objective and accepted by everyone. History Department is the field of university where history science is taught in 4-year undergraduate programmes of universities. History Departments can operate under the Faculties of Science and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Literature, Faculty of Literature, Faculty of Language and History and Geography, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences or Faculty of Humanities. History Departments, as the name suggests, mainly consist of history courses and include compulsory and elective courses in this context. The main purpose of this department is to enable students to evaluate the perspective of history in an objective dimension. Studying in the history department is an extremely enjoyable education and training process. Students who prefer the Department of History are qualified students who are curious about history and like to do research and learn something in this field. In this context, students not only enjoy the lessons they take, but also enter the lessons by loving the department. High school students who intend to choose the Department of History should keep their verbal courses strong in this period and prefer verbal and equal weight fields in university exams.
The History Society, which operates within the Department of History, provides an environment of discussion and reflection for students interested in history. The History Society is a student community where students organise various activities such as cultural trips, meetings and film screenings.
Career
Although there is a perception in the society that graduates of the Department of History have limited job opportunities under the conditions of our country, this is not the case at all. The job opportunities of the graduates of this department are mostly related to their career goals and success. Graduates of the Department of History can find a job in the following fields.
- After undergraduate education, they can continue their academic career with a master's and PhD degree and work as academics at universities.
- There are counsellor guide positions in museums. They can work as a guide by taking part in these positions.
- They can take pedagogic formation education by taking advantage of the formation programme of universities and work as history teachers in the public and private sectors.
- They can serve as archaeologists.
- They can work as a tourist guide on tourist trips.
- They can become civil servants. (In fact, with the amendment made in the law, graduates of the history department can take the district governorship exam and become district governors)
- They can work in military institutions.
