Overview
American Culture and Literature from Ankara University analyzes the culture, history, politics, and literatures of the peoples of the United States. They help our students develop the ability to analyze literary texts in detail and provide critical thinking skills, a critical approach to society and culture, and to the American past and present through the lens of several disciplines.
Students at American Culture and Literature from Ankara University will:
- Identify American culture and literature and the historical, social, economic, political, philosophical and scientific developments in which this literature and culture shaped from the beginning to the present day.
- Evaluate the literal works trough their specifications, samples and transformations
- Describe history, stage and distrinctive formal and stylistic features of American literature.
- Evaluate and discuss historical, scientific, cultural, sociological and economic events related with American Literarute.
- Evaluate American literature works according to classical and contemporary literary theory.
- Use English oral and written in different environments, with different purposes.
- Read English texts and and analyze within the framework of linguistic features, format, style, content and meaning.
- Analyze historical developments of different societies from different perspectives.
