Overview

The main areas of the law which will be covered during the course include Public Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Commercial Law, Environmental and Resources Law, Media, Communications and Technology Law, Legal History and Methodology and European and Comparative Law.

The Laws (Hons) course at the University of Malta  requires you as a prospective student to acquire a detailed knowledge of the basic principles of law and also good knowledge of substantive law. Various elective study units are offered throughout the course which you must sit for end of semester examinations.

You are also encouraged to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility learning period in the first semester of your final year of studies, as we believe a diverse and multicultural academic journey will make you better practitioners of the law.

Career opportunities

• The course will enable you to pursue a range of postgraduate studies, where you can read for a degree that leads into the profession of Advocate or Notary Public, the Master of Laws in European and Comparative Law, the Master of Laws in International Law, the Master of Arts in Mediation, the Master of Arts in Human Rights and Democratization of Governance, and the Master of Ars in Ocean Governance.

• As a graduate, you will be equipped with knowledge and skills which may be utilised in other careers (as in the public service, banking and in other commercial occupations).
