Overview

The Music Performance programme from Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College cultivates future professionals and leaders in the cultural and creative industries in China and the world. 

These leaders also develop social consciousness and personal skills in a global environment that meet the market demands. 

These characteristics contribute to the future success of the liberal arts education pioneered by UIC.

A four-year comprehensive study provides students with advanced skills and deep knowledge of instrumental playing and helps them become creative graduates with an international outlook and extensive skill sets.

In general, there are five main teaching methods:

• formal lectures and in-class observation and discussions to absorb theories and concepts;

• rehearsals to have performance accuracy and interpretive skills developed;

• demonstration of video and live performance examples to have the specific characteristics analysed;

• the utilization of digital equipment and techniques to produce multimedia music production;

• practical tutorials to guide students through close interaction towards mastery of the chosen instrument. English is the medium of instruction for lectures and tutorials. The UIC English Learning Centre (ELC) will help students strengthen their English proficiency.
