Overview

Finance and Technology (FinTech) (Hons) degree from University of Sussex offers you the opportunity to gain experience at the cutting edge between finance and computer science. You’ll develop quantitative and analytical skills as well as your coding and programming capabilities. You have access to our Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab, located in the Business School, and to Thomson Reuters service platforms. This allows you to take part in real-time financial and trading simulation, supervised by academic and industry experts.

Careers

This course prepares you for roles in the exciting and growing industry known as financial technology (FinTech), where there are opportunities in banks, consultancies, investment companies, and asset management companies, stock brokerage firms and peer-to-peer lending companies.

This course will also enable you to work in traditional finance and software engineering industries.

Outside the classroom you can get careers advice and develop your key skills further by joining our FinTech and Banking Society, and the Sussex Trading Society where you can attend events including:

General requirements

UK requirements:

You must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics, with at least grade 6 (or grade B). We will also consider applicants with grade 5 in Maths if you are taking A-level Accounting, Business, Chemistry, Economics, Maths, Physics, Psychology or an LIBF Diploma in Financial Studies. AAT accounting qualifications can be used as an alternative to the grade 6 GCSE Maths requirement.
You should also have a broad range of GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C), including good grades in relevant subjects.

International requirements:

International Baccalaureate: 32 points overall from the full IB Diploma.

European Baccalaureate: Overall result of at least 77%.
You must have a good level of Mathematics.
