Overview
Students at Autonomous Vehicle Engineering from Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, THI acquire the necessary competences in the subject areas characteristic of automated mobility systems:
- Sense: Sensor technology, sensor systems and sensor data fusion for recognising and recording the environment.
- Think: Processing the information obtained via sensors to create a driving strategy with the help of software and intelligent algorithms.
- Act: Safe implementation of the driving strategy with the help of drive, steering and braking forces by controlling and regulating actuators.
In the first stage of studies (1st and 2nd semester), basic theories, methods and skills of engineering sciences, mathematics/statistics as well as technical and practical computer science are taught.
The second study section (3rd - 7th semester) teaches specialised knowledge and skills in the processing of information for the purposes of vehicle guidance and the concepts of automated and networked driving. During the practical semester, students carry out their first engineering-related activities in a domestic or foreign company.
The Bachelor's thesis concludes the programme. It can be written in a domestic or foreign company or in the laboratories of THI. With the final thesis, the graduate demonstrates that he/she has the ability to independently work on an engineering problem according to scientific rules.
Career
- Embedded Software Engineer: Competencies: Strong knowledge in embedded systems, signal processing, and software development for real-time systems. The ability to integrate hardware and software components and develop safe, reliable software that meets functional safety and cybersecurity standards is crucial for this role
- Signal Processing Engineer: Competencies: A deep understanding of signal processing from the mathematical foundations to digital signal processing and its applications in machine learning. This role requires expertise in handling signals across various physical layers and applying advanced techniques to improve system performance.
- ADAS Engineer: Competencies: Skills in sensor fusion, signal processing, and embedded system design are essential for developing advanced driver-assistance systems. The ability to analyze and optimize algorithms for safety-critical applications is highly relevant for this position.
- Test Engineer / Validation Engineer: Competencies: Ability to design, plan, and execute testing procedures for complex systems. Knowledge of system validation and the ability to interpret experimental data ensures the reliability and safety of autonomous systems.
