Overview
At Resource Chemistry (Honours) programme from University Malaysia Sarawak Chemistry is central to the understanding of basic life processes in living organisms and the physicochemical interactions of non-living elements. It plays an important role in the process of exploiting living and non-living resources for the benefit of mankind. Students will be taught various sub-discipline of chemistry with adequate coverage, so graduates will have a broad understanding of the relevance of chemistry.
The Resource Chemistry (Honours) programme from University Malaysia Sarawak has been designed to equip students with knowledge and expertise needed to undertake an analytical approach in research of natural resources for sustainable exploitation. Such skills will enhance the nation's research capabilities in utilising our rich natural resources
Programme Learning Outcomes
Upon graduating from this program, the students are able to:
- Describe fundamental knowledge and principles in chemistry and its application
- Apply critical thinking to solve problems related to chemistry using scientific approach
- Demonstrate practical skills in chemistry through experiment, case study, and research
- Work effectively in a team in diverse learning and working communities in the field of chemistry as well as other groups locally and internationally
- Relate ideas both in written or orally using appropriate forms of presentation confidently, accurately and coherently in a well-structured manner to a diversity of audiences
- Use a broad range of information, media and technology applications to support study and/or work
- Integrate numerical and graphical/visual data for study/work
- Work autonomously, and demonstrate decision making capacities, accountabilities, leadership and professionalism within broad organizational parameters
