Overview

The programme of Physiotherapy at University of Kwazulu Natal is integrated with the first and second year having a large basic science and practical component and the third and fourth year mainly clinical sciences and clinical practice. In order to qualify with the B. Physiotherapy degree students must have completed 1000 clinical hours.

There is also a compulsory year of community service before a candidate is registered with the Health Professions Council as a Physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy is part of the wider College of Health Science that offers postgraduate masters by course work or thesis and a doctoral program by thesis which are governed by the College of Health Science’s postgraduate policies and procedures.

General requirements

Subject requirements for Bachelor of Physiotherapy: Maths, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, all at level 4 with a minimum of 30 points.

Only students applying for Physiotherapy as first choice will be considered.

Students who do not meet the above requirements can enrol into the Science Foundation Programme or complete one year BSc provided they pass Psychology, Physics and Biology during that year. Students can re-apply the following year for a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree.
