This three-year programme at University of Kwazulu Natal requires that students study Politics, Philosophy and Economics up to at least the second level.

Highlights

They may then choose to major in two of these disciplines, although they may be permitted to major in all three.

They will normally be expected to take an interdisciplinary „‟capstone‟‟ module in the third year.

Programme Structure

Few aspects of economic behaviour are without political dimensions, and political behaviour and processes can seldom be understood without knowledge of economics.

To understand and explain such phenomena adequately one needs to adopt a theoretical stance which, in turn, requires skills in conceptual analysis and abstract reasoning.

There is no better disciplinary basis for such abstract reasoning than training in philosophy.

Applicants to undergraduate degree programmes must be in possession of a National Senior Certificate for Degree Studies (NSC-Deg) or a Senior Certificate with endorsement.

The medium of instruction at UKZN is English, and UKZN requires a pass in English (Home Language or First Additional Language (FAL)) at Level 4 (50% or above) but note that the College of Law requires a pass in English Home language at Level 5 or English as FAL on Level 6.

UKZN degree programmes require a pass in Life orientation at Level 4.
