Overview
About Dance Performance at Stockholm University of Arts
The work as a dance artist largely consists of being able to immerse yourself into physical, choreographic and intellectual practices. It also involves knowing how to relate to your own artistic practice often in collaborations and collective processes. In particular, the work is about how, what and why you want to communicate with an audience. The programme focuses on these practices, working methods and processes.
The Bachelor’s Programme in Dance Performance
During the Dance Performance programme of the Stockholm University of Arts you will work continuously with various practices, aesthetic styles and forms of expression. The objective is for you to acquire knowledge of various approaches to movement, working methods, staging and production. By meeting teachers from the professional field, both nationally and internationally, you are given the opportunity to create a broad network and develop knowledge and methods with which to work in various ways with contemporary dance and choreography.
You are required to be able to work independently and responsibly, and through critical reflection develop your ability to take part in a discourse on dance as an art form, both contemporary and its tradition as well as historic development.
After three years you will have the opportunity to get closer to the way in which you want to express yourself as an artist within the field.
