Overview

The goal of the Nursing program of the Tokyo Medical University is to foster nurses rich in education and humanity, flexible in thinking, and capable of thinking and acting for themselves; individuals capable of playing a pioneering role in society. Its goals are to foster the knowledge and practical skills required in nursing and to instill a sense of the highest ethical standards. Our wish is to foster nurses dedicated to protecting lives and human dignity by endowing them with the knowledge necessary to contribute to the development of society and nursing.

Educational Goals

Respect for human life and dignity. The ability to develop healthy and supportive human relationships based on the highest ethical standards.
The ability to make nursing decisions and provide care based on sound scientific knowledge in line with the principle of being able to act independently and autonomously.
The leadership and management skills necessary to offer comprehensive and consistent health, nursing, and welfare services.
The ability to decide the measures and action required from the widest possible perspective in dealing with problems that threaten the health or lives of their patients.
The desire to pursue one’s specialist studies in nursing throughout one’s career; to constantly develop nursing values and the specialty itself.
The ability to contribute to global safety, health, and welfare through maintaining a global outlook.

Programme Structure

The curriculum of the School of Nursing at Tokyo Medical University has been designed to allow the stepwise acquisition of the necessary knowledge and skills from the first year through to the fourth year.

The curriculum comprises three groups of subjects: general academic, basic, and specialized.
