Overview

The Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela was established in 2007 with the objective of providing a multidisciplinary research and teaching program in Biotechnology and Medical Engineering that advances fundamental understanding of how biological systems operate and to develop effective biology-based technologies for applications across a wide spectrum of societal needs including innovations in diagnosis, therapy of human diseases, design of novel biomaterials, biomedical devices, and in solving environmental hazard.

Objectives

Graduates will be able to plan, act and perform in consonance with set of career goals and objectives in Biotechnology

Graduates will be able to apply the fundamentals of basic sciences and different engineering principles in biotechnology to solve complex problems related to healthcare, food, energy and environment

Graduates will be able to effectively communicate with industry and solve live industrial problems
