About the program
The Medicine program at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine focuses on producing future physician-scientists who strive for excellence in scientific inquiry as well as in the development of new diagnostic measures and treatments. Thus, it is the mission of the university that her graduates will ultimately play extensive roles in community medicine as well as in the field of medical science.
Programme Structure
Structure:
- This program includes anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, parasitology and pharmacology, as well as interdisciplinary topics in the field of cell biology, molecular biology, neuroscience and genomic medicine.
- The third period consists of a public health program and a program of basic knowledge and skills in all of the clinical disciplines, including internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology, etc.
- During year four, all students will take a nation-wide, computer-based test and a structured clinical examination.
- In year five, students rotate through the various medical specialties in the University Hospital, work alongside clinicians and participate in patient care.
