Overview

All modules (4 per year) are centered around a real-life business challenge, presented to you by existing (international) companies and organisations. They will give you and your fellow students an actual business problem to solve. The solution to these problems will not just be ‘handed’ to you in traditional classes. You will have to find it yourselves, by carrying out research and finding the underlying theory in reliable (online) sources like books,  articles or video’s. You will learn through experience. And once you have gotten used to this way of working you will take on more responsibility and you get more freedom. Initially we will select the companies you work with, but as of the second year you will find your own clients.

Team work

You will work in teams with fellow students, many of  them from abroad, in one of the available ‘work spaces’.  IB’s business experts and coaches can be consulted there at all times for information, guidance or explanation. A limited number of expert lectures and workshops will be scheduled to kick-start your learning and to train your skills. And when the experts notice that a certain subject raises a lot of questions, they will organize a ‘just in time’ flash lecture; right at the moment when the student teams face the problem, not earlier when there is no obvious connection to the problem at hand.

Intercultural Business Line

An Intercultural Business Line - an ongoing four-year course - teaches you about the culture of the geographical region of your choice and how this affects business in that region. In the first year you will choose one out of the five. Your choice allows you to specialize yourself in a specific geographical region and to study the (business) culture in other parts of the world. Language classes are part of the line to enhance your language skills.

The options are:

  • Doing business in French speaking countries. (No prior knowledge required of French)
  • Doing business in German speaking countries. (Entry level: German A2)
  • Doing business in Spanish speaking countries. (No prior knowledge required of Spanish)
  • Doing business in the Euregion. (No prior knowledge required of Dutch. This line is only available for non-Dutch native speakers)
  • Doing business in Asia. (No prior knowledge required. In this line there is no mandatory second language).
