In order to achieve this, the Physics Department’s strategy is to provide a generous number of electives with a lean core curriculum delivering the necessary professional skills, competencies, and physics knowledge. The Physics BSc program at Khalifa University provides elective options in Engineering Physics, Space Science, and Physics Education. Alternatively, students will be encouraged to consider taking a minor with their Physics BSc degree, for example in Nuclear Engineering or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. A wide range of elective physics courses, such as in Advanced Instrumentation, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Biological Physics, Nanotechnology, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, and others will be made available to students.

• Pursue a career in academic research in various areas of physics (i.e., Nuclear physics, materials science, physics of semiconductors, theoretical physics)

• Work in various engineering fields. Physics provides a strong scientific background in various research aspects used in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and nuclear engineering. The graduates often find positions in engineering domains like renewable energy, telecommunications, or automotive industries.

• Healthcare and Medical Physics. Applying physics to medicine in roles such as radiology, radiation therapy, or medical imaging. Medical physicists play a crucial role in cancer treatment, diagnostic imaging, and ensuring the safe use of radiation and medical equipment.

• Education: Teaching physics at secondary or higher education levels. This often requires additional qualifications in education, but it’s a rewarding career for those passionate about sharing their love of physics with students.
