Lapland is an international tourism destination, which offers memorable nature-based high-end experiences to tourists from all over the world and unique learning opportunities and a real-life tourism laboratory to our students.

The Hospitality Management - Tourism programme at Lapland University of Applied Sciences aims at providing the tourism and hospitality industry with managers who know how to balance travellers' high expectations for memorable luxury tourism experiences while protecting nature, culture and the whole planet.

In the programme-specific studies we emphasise emphasise prerequisites for creating and managing nature-based luxury experiences like sustainability, nature tourism, diversity, human resource management, design thinking, risk management and other field-related issues related to the tourism business. Contemporary marketing, including eCommerce and product development, as well as various language and cultural studies have an important role in the degree programme.

We work in close connection with the local tourism business. The Degree Programme in Tourism also has specific tourism companies in the area with which we have deeper cooperation through e.g. various projects and other study-related assignments.

Future career prospects

We will offer you skills and expertise required in the international tourism and hospitality industry. After your graduation you will be able to work for private and public organisations having excellent competences and skills in tourism-related subjects with a multicultural and international aspect.

You can apply for a bachelor's degree programme at Lapland University of Applied Sciences if you have completed any of the following:

Finnish general upper secondary school syllabus and/or the Matriculation Examination

International Baccalaureate, German Reifeprüfung or European Baccalaureate Diploma

Finnish upper secondary vocational qualification (120 credit units) or an equivalent older vocational qualification (minimum 80 credit units)

Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational diploma

Further vocational or specialist vocational qualification or an equivalent prior qualification

Foreign education that qualifies you for higher education in the respective country

Bachelor's or Master's degree.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

Funding

1st year students: 20% Early Bird scholarship (€1,900) if they accept the study place, register and pay 80% of annual tuition (€7,600) within two weeks of acceptance.

3rd year students: €4,750 scholarship based on Finnish assessment test (YKI) and study progress with at least 120 credits completed and level 2 or 3 language proficiency.

4th year students: €1,500 (210 credits) or €3,000 (240 credits) scholarship based on YKI and study progress with at least 180 credits completed and level 3 language proficiency.

Discretionary scholarships: For non-EU/EEA students with separate application, covering 50% of annual tuition (provided retroactively) if they complete all studies, except the thesis, within the target time.
