Overview
Economics from Yildiz Technical University is based primarily on developing the ability to create the notion of economics, think like an economist, and analyze economic events from various dimensions. On this basis, an education is provided that enables the economist to benefit from all kinds of sub-disciplines such as history, sociology, law and business administration and to use quantitative techniques.

- In this context, both the unique characteristics and interdisciplinary nature of economics are reflected in education. The Curriculum has been created in a structure that is flexible and open to innovations and developments, allowing for the opening of many elective courses. The economics department curriculum has been prepared to be completed in 4 years and 8 semesters. In addition to the compulsory courses that must be taken every semester, students can take elective courses related to the fields they are interested in. Students who entered university in 2010 or later are required to take 30% of their courses in English. Thus, it is aimed for students to gain the skills to understand at least one language very well, to read and write, and to follow the economic literature.
Program Outcomes:
- Department of Economics Undergraduate Program; Able to analyze economic and social events in line with the teachings of economics and related disciplines, interpret the facts and develop solutions to problems;
- IJnderstands the basic problematic of economics and can analyze and discuss the behavior of both the individual as a consumer unit and the company as a producer unit in different market structures in the short, medium and long term;
- Able to explain problems that national economies may encounter, such as unemployment inflation, income distribution and current account deficit, in connection with economic policy instruments such as money supply, interest rate, public expenditures, taxes and exchange rate, and produce solutions;
- Able to explain the interactions between international economic developments, which are increasingly important in the global age, and the activities of individuals and companies, as well as the problems of national economies, by establishing connections between them;
- Aware of the importance that economic developments have a historical dimension, that they can be examined comparatively with more than one conceptual framework, and that they can be significantly affected by the institutional framework in which these developments take place;
- Aware of the indispensability of using logic, mathematics, econometrics and statistical techniques in solving economic problems in concrete life, and able to use them at an adequate level;
