Overview
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Yildiz Technical University focuses specifically on material production from industrial raw materials, natural mineralogical resources, recyclable and recoverable material resources, the microstructure-property-performance relationship of materials, and the factors affecting material behavior during use. It focuses on shaping and combining materials, improving their surface properties, and imparting new properties to materials through techniques such as heat treatment after production.
Quick Facts:
- In addition, materials are important for all branches of engineering because the design process is often limited by the properties of the materials. Developments in the field of materials bring new design criteria and enable the emergence of new products. Although metals and their alloys are widely used in engineering materials; Improvements and developments in the field of ceramics, polymers and composite materials are constantly increasing. The aim of this program is to provide students with the necessary scientific infrastructure, equipment, information technologies and computer use, the ability to use information for a purpose, modeling, entrepreneurship, and the knowledge and skills of new material and process design to meet both scientific and industrial increasing needs. Developments in the field of materials create new designs. It brings new standards and enables the emergence of new products. As these developments continue, metallurgical and materials engineers are the main producers of materials required for other engineering.
- Graduates of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering can work in the production, quality control and R&D departments of relevant organizations in integrated metal production facilities, rolling mills, foundries, heat treatment, powder metallurgy, forging industry, corrosion issues and ceramic production facilities.
