Overview

Chemistry and Biological Chemistry (Hons) at Nanyang Technological University begins with the fundamentals of modern chemistry, including organic and biological chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and forensic science. Students go on to study advanced and industrially-relevant topics including organometallic chemistry, spectroscopy, green chemistry, and drug design. In each year of study, students have the opportunity to do a research project to hone their creativity and explore the frontiers of science.

Fourth year students have the opportunity to do a final-year research project under the personal supervision of one of our faculty members, or undertake a 22-week professional internship in Singapore's chemical sector to get a head-start in employment.

In-depth knowledge of chemistry principles and methods is extremely useful in many areas of science and industry. Our Chemistry and Biological Chemistry programme equips students with the latest laboratory techniques, mastery of cutting-edge scientific instruments, as well as experience doing research at the scientific frontier and internship opportunities at a wide selection of local chemistry-related companies. Our graduates have been able to enter a wide range of fulfilling jobs, including research, technical, and managerial positions.
