The English-Speaking Cultures programme offered by the University of Bremen encompasses the following components: Literary studies, language sciences, cultural studies and language practice. Students training to be teachers also attend courses in didactics of foreign language acquisition. Courses are taught in English. The degree programme is complemented by a variety of different courses including task-based language learning, which will improve student’s language abilities still further. Beyond lectures and seminars, students have various possibilities to develop their practical skills and exchange ideas with other students. 

During their studies, they can participate in excursions to different countries or to partnership universities. In addition, extracurricular activities such as film events in English and the bi-annual drama performances of the Parlament of Foules, an English-language drama group for students, are available.


Subsequent non-teaching occupational fields

The BA English-Speaking Cultures/English prepares its graduates for various occupational fields, including: Adult education and lifelong learning, research, press and media, public relations and marketing, advertising, cultural- and educational management, information management and design, translation, personnel management, and collaboration with NGO’s and organisations of the government, and tourism.
