Overview

Patients who have problems with their feet or lower limbs need expert care and attention. Podiatrists are independent highly skilled professionals, able to both diagnose and treat problems affecting the feet and lower limbs. You will gain practical experience in the clinical environment, observing and working alongside skilled and experienced and world-renowned researchers. 

This Podiatry (Hons) programme at Glasgow Caledonian University is approved by the UK Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). 

It is the only Podiatry programme in the UK to offer an HCPC-approved international academic exchange. This is with La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. 

Your career

As well as working within the NHS, you could make a career in the private sector - from high street retailers to sports medicine centres or running your own business. 

GCU graduates have also gone on to pursue research activities, entered the world of health-related commerce or further developed their skills to become podiatric surgeons.

General Requirements

Year 1

  • SQA Higher: BBBC to include English or equivalent and one science plus two further sciences at Nat 5 C
  • A level: CCC including one science plus GCSE English and two sciences at C/4 or double science at CC
  • ILC Higher: H3 H3 H3 H3 to include English plus one science and Ordinary level Maths at 02
  • IB Diploma: 24 points must include two sciences.
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: In Science/Applied Science MMM plus GCSE English and Maths at C/4 and a science at C/4 or Double Science at CC.
