Overview
The Bachelor of Communications (Hons) at the University of Malta helps you keep pace with the latest media and communication trends and technologies, offering learning of a combination of theoretical and practical skills.
The programme blends a framework of concepts, processes and experiences in the dissemination of knowledge to work-related problems you will encounter throughout your career. The areas of study include journalism; design and visual communications; marketing communications; film, video and broadcasting; and internet communications.
Students also explore human communications in different contexts, as well as the latest media and communication trends and technologies in various settings. During your final year, you are expected to write a research-based dissertation, experience practical work by means of a placement, and do one mentored project, all in one area of focus
Career opportunites and access to further studies
- As a graduate in B.Comms. (Hons), you will have careers in journalism, the media, film, script writing, public relations, advertising, corporate communications, design, digital and online publishing, broadcasting or marketing positions. You will also be eligible to read for the Master of Arts in Media and Communications (by Research) offered by the Department of Media and Communications, Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences. If you are interested in focusing on design and visual communications, then you may read for the Master in Fine Arts (Digital Arts) offered by the Department of Digital Arts, Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences. If your area of focus is film and video production, you may read for the Master of Arts in Film Studies offered by the Faculty of Arts.

- Applicants must satisfy the General Entry Requirements for admission, namely, the Matriculation Certificate and Secondary Education Certificate passes at Grade 5 or better in Maltese, English Language and Mathematics.
