Overview

This Physiotherapy program from Gulf Medical University is extended over a period of four years including 6 months of Advanced Clinical Practicum. On successful completion of this program, the student will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and qualify as a Physical Therapist, which would be a stepping stone to a challenging career. 

Who is a physical therapist?

• Physical Therapists (PTs) provide functional diagnosis and treat patients of all ages with systemic problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
• PTs evaluate the client/patient by using appropriate clinical methods and procedures associated with physical therapy practice
• PTs develop a treatment plan of care by using a range of physical therapy techniques and procedures to alleviate pain related to movement, promote the individual’s functional ability, overall quality of life and prevent disability.
• PTs perform physical therapy intervention procedures by using appropriate clinical and research decisions/tools for rehabilitating clients/patients.

• PTs promote health in general as well as competitive level, in areas such as sports, work productivity and geriatrics by effectively interacting and maintaining a good interpersonal relationship with other health care providers based on ethical and legal guideline

Upon successful completion of the program and fulfilling the local license/regulatory requirements, the student can:

Work as:

• Physical therapist in multi and super specialty hospitals, outpatient and home care clinics, rehabilitation centers.
• Physical therapist in industrial sectors and other occupational environments.
• Physical therapist as instructor in fitness and sports training facilities.
• Physical therapist as Self -employed/home care physical therapist.
• Physical therapist can pursue career as a research assistant.
• Advance in career by pursuing Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) and Doctorate courses [PhD ,DPT ] in specialties like musculoskeletal, neurology, cardio-pulmonary, women’s health and pediatrics.
