Overview
Key facts
It explores the framework of evidence-based treatment of pathological phenomena as a response to life-experiences by considering psychological, medical, sociological and anthropological aspects. The course is designed to broaden students’ theoretical knowledge in methodology and to provide the skills required to put theory into practice.
Integrating theoretical knowledge and applied clinical experience is a core element of the programme. Students will do supervised internships at external facilities as well as at the SFU’s Outpatient Clinic, and acquire the skills and competencies required for practicing psychotherapy in compulsory personal development courses.
In the Psychotherapy Science Bachelor’s Degree Programme offered by Sigmund Freud University, students acquire basic competencies in research methodologies and are introduced to the legal, economic and social framework of the profession. A major element of the programme is practical training in psychotherapy. Students reflect on their practical experiences and thus develop self-reflection and self-awareness.
