Overview
About the course
Based on key skills such as management, digitalization of services and sustainability, it offers a very varied and individualized curriculum with many options to choose from. The programme also emphasizes multilingualism by immersing students in multilingual courses, during which they are required to speak three languages (French, German, English). Similarly, international exchanges are strongly supported from the second year.
The Bachelor's in Tourism programme from University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland emphasizes multidisciplinarity by integrating 13 core competencies in its different modules: Tourism, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Digitalisation, Management, Communication, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Languages, Cognitive Flexibility, Emotional Intelligence, Sustainability and Sociopolitics.
The studies last three years full-time (6 semesters) or four years part-time (8 semesters). The early part of the course focuses on the acquisition of fundamental principles which are then integrated into applied projects. A large part of the curriculum is dedicated to practical modules devoted to the development of projects interacting with companies, associations or public services as well as in close collaboration with the Tourism Institute, which manages research mandates and projects.
Free modules and application modules allow students to personalise their course of study. A wide range of modules is offered, ranging from service and event creation, to entrepreneurship/company creation or the creation of tourism offers, but also in relation to the development of soft skills such as leadership, emotional intelligence or cognitive flexibility.
