Overview
Moving Image is a unique interdisciplinary study programme at the ArtEZ University of the Arts which explores the power of moving images and seeks the (creative and conceptual) boundaries in film, art and media.
The possible applications of moving images via media like smartphones, digital billboards and virtual reality have rapidly increased in recent years. This has created a need for people who understand the nature and meaning of moving images, who can develop original concepts and who can translate them into emotive images.
The Moving Image study responds to that need. You develop your artistic and theoretical/philosophical skills on the cutting edge of new media developments. You become a creative strategist with a solid practical and theoretical basis, someone who explores and extends the potential of moving images and can apply them in different forms of (new) media.
Classical film training tends to follow the hierarchical categorisation used in the film world, by training you to be a director, cameraman, scriptwriter, etc. In the Moving Image course, we do that differently. We embrace the options in the different disciplines and train you to take a position as a critical and skilled maker.
Careers
After the course, you may use the title Bachelor of Arts and work as an artistic designer in various fields, such as autonomous artist as in the applied sector (for example digital communication, visual arts design, experimental film, cinematography, docufiction and image processing).
