Overview
Successful completion of this Bachelor in Radiation Therapy from University of Johannesburg will entitle the student to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiation Therapist.
After completion of the programme, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical understanding and application of quality assurance and radiation protection in a Radiation Therapy division
- Apply scientific knowledge and technical skills to perform radiation oncology laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Perform radiotherapy procedures competently to ensure optimal radiation localization and immobilization for radiation treatment.
- Perform radiotherapy procedures competently to ensure optimal treatment planning.
- Apply scientific knowledge and professional skills to perform therapeutic procedures for accurate delivery of the radiation treatment prescribed.
- Plan, develop and apply total quality management appropriate to the radiation therapy context.
- Demonstrate research skills and foster a research climate in radiation therapy.
- Apply the principles, specific knowledge, skills and values related to the chosen elective subject.
