Overview

The Computer Science - Informatics at the University of Basel offers its graduates the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a broad occupational field in business and administration, but also provides the theoretical tools for an entry into research. 

During their studies, the students learn to systematically analyze problems and independently develop solutions using information and communication technologies. The central thing is working in a team and presenting IT solutions.

Distributed Systems and Machine Intelligence

Computer science research at the University of Basel focuses on two subject areas: Distributed Systems and Machine Intelligence. In the Distributed Systems area, the focus is on the design and further development of devices such as programs for high-performance computer networks, the elements of which are located in different places, even on different continents. Researchers in the field of machine intelligence develop and optimize autonomous decision-making systems for planning and predicting future events or states. Both areas are worked on by several research groups and given special attention in teaching.
