Overview

Students enrolled in the Computer Science program at the at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technologyare required to be simultaneously enrolled in at least one other major, e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, Quantitative Social Analysis, or Biotechnology. Students who wish to pursue a double major can either start with Computer Science and declare their second major afterward or enroll in another major and then add COSC. 

Career prospects

The majority of COSC graduates pursue postgraduate studies; some start with Master’s degrees and some embark directly on Ph.D. degrees. The topics of their further studies depend on their interests and the other major in which they were first enrolled. While many of our alumni have pursued further studies in computer science, some have gone directly to doctoral studies in economics (Princeton), physics (Yale), applied math (Harvard), and neuroscience (Johns Hopkins), among others. 

Accreditation

Programs related to Computing and Information and Communication Technology are recognized under the Seoul Accord, which signatories include Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. Through these international agreements, HKUST BEng degrees are widely recognized around the world.
