Overview

Our BEng Computer Science program at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology provides a broad education, teaching the problem-solving skills needed to tackle computational problems in all core areas, including programming, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, and software engineering. Students can then choose to learn about diverse areas of computer science, such as databases and data mining, networking, embedded systems, computer graphics, image processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, computer security, and theoretical computer science. 

Career prospects

About 15-20% of our COMP graduates pursue postgraduate studies immediately after graduation. While many of them take up research opportunities in Hong Kong, particularly at HKUST, some go abroad to study at top universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Princeton University, Yale University, Carnegie-Mellon University, Cornell University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Michigan, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Southern California, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the University of Toronto. 

Accreditation

Programs related to Computing and Information and Communication Technology are recognized under the Seoul Accord, which signatories include Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. Through these international agreements, HKUST BEng degrees are widely recognized around the world.
