Immerse yourself in the business-side of performance sport, studying events, sponsorship, entrepreneurship and more. Benefit from practical learning and an industry focused degree. Tailor your studies to suit you and undertake a work placement in industry to prepare you for your career during the Sports Business Management (Hons) programme from Hartpury College.
The modules on this course have been informed by industry, which means you’ll develop the business skills and experience that employers are looking for. Alongside sports-related topics, you’ll study the core principles and practice of business, including finance, marketing, leadership and strategic management.
The use and importance of social media, sponsorship, brand development and project management are among some of the specialist areas you’ll cover. Your assessments will focus on your practical experience, to ensure you graduate ready to hit the ground running. You could find yourself running a graduate assessment centre on campus or pitching a new business idea in the style of Dragons’ Den.
As you progress, you can tailor your studies to suit the career path you want to take. Whether event management, entrepreneurship or business development, there is a path to suit everyone. During your second year, you’ll be able to gain real-world experience working in an area of industry that interests you. You can use this to gain professional skills and experience to set you apart from other graduates.
Our excellent industry links will lead to regular trips to strengthen your learning and understanding of the behind-the-scenes workings of major businesses. We’ll also pay for you to complete an Institute of Leadership and Management qualification, widely recognised by employers across the world.
A work placement in your second year, alongside the opportunity to undertake a sandwich year in industry, will prepare you for graduate employment. We have great partnerships with local and national sports clubs and businesses including links with Gloucester Rugby and our own Championship rugby team. You could also experience studying in the world’s most lucrative sports industry, the United States, as part of a new study abroad option.
