The program is designed to be equivalent to the undergraduate programs in Economics and Finance in the top universities in the EU, including a significant part of mathematics and statistics. The graduates are familiar with the essential economics knowledge and quantitative skills, as well as detailed knowledge about particular fields such as financial markets, banking, international trade and finance, public economics and economic policy-making. The level of instruction and requirements in the core courses facilitate easy transfers of the graduates into top Masters programs in Economics and Finance in the EU.
To complete the programme, the students must (i) collect 180 ECTS credits and (ii) defend their Bachelor’s Thesis. The available courses consist of mandatory courses, elective and optional courses. The mandatory and elective courses are taught at the Institute of Economic Studies (IES), the optional (off-field elective) courses can be taken at any department of Charles University (including Czech language classes).

The applicants for the Economics and Finance (BEF) programme at Charles University must have solid background in Mathematics and good command of English.
Our graduates typically assume challenging positions in banking, consulting, investment funds and public administration. They are qualified to undertake intermediate-level quantitative analysis and modeling in economics and finance.
Courses are taught both by members of IES and external professionals from the central bank, commercial banks and business analysts.

- As the programme exposes students to topics in mathematical economics, mathematical statistics and finance, applicants are required to have an excellent background in high-school mathematics. Prior knowledge of economics or finance is an advantage, but it is not required.
