Students of the Professional Accounting (Honours) programme of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University will be introduced to financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, law and accounting information systems.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILO)

• Explain and critically review business theories and concepts to identify issues, analyse situations, and develop solutions for multi-faceted problems in organisational settings.

• Critically evaluate issues and make informed judgements in view of the organisation’s strategies as well as ethical considerations.

• Make contributions as a leader and member in a team setting and communicate effectively.

• Analyse and apply accounting principles and standards to address business organisation issues.

• Search, organise, assess and analyse data, and clearly convey relevant financial and non-financial information so that decision-makers can formulate informed decisions.

• Assimilate and synthesise new knowledge in financial reporting, taxation and auditing, and be able to provide critical analysis of the fields.

Career Prospects

Graduates can seek employment as professional accountants, or pursue careers in related fields such as auditing, taxation and business advisory services.

Further Studies

Opportunities are available for the graduates of this programme to postgraduate studies in Hong Kong and abroad. Some students will continue to study for a Postgraduate Diploma or Master degree in accounting, while others may choose to study further in the fields of business administration, corporate governance, or management.
