Overview
Sport Studies - track ISMB is a four-year degree programme offered by Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences focused on business and management within the international sports industry. During your study, entrepreneurial skills and spirit will provide a solid foundation as you learn to research, plan, organise, lead, manage and evaluate the business of sport. In the first two years, you’ll also participate in a variety of sports to further develop your management and interpersonal skills.

The Sport Studies - track ISMB programme is designed to expand your understanding of relevant theories and build practical skills in three key areas of the sports industry:
- Sport Commerce: focuses on the business surrounding sports industry, paying special attention to spectators and sport as entertainment. Many practical business aspects play a role in this, including finance, economics, sales and marketing.
- High Performance Sport: examines the most exclusive side of the sports world with a focus on the athlete. You’ll gain new insights into the events, organisations and structures surrounding these high-performance competitors, as well as cover subjects such as sport media and the legal aspects of sport.
- Sport Development: takes a more inclusive look at the sports world with a focus on participation. You’ll learn more about topics such as intercultural communication, facility management and the role of sport, recreation and fitness in society.

General requirements
To be admitted to Sport Studies - track ISMB you need to have completed secondary education equivalent to the Dutch havo, vwo or mbo-4 level and strong written and verbal English communications skills. Due to the limited number of study places, a selection day is part of the admission procedure.
You must have completed a suitable level of secondary education. The international equivalents of the required level include:
- International Baccalaureate
- British A levels
- German (Fach)Abitur
- French Baccalauréat
This means that you should have completed your secondary education at university entrance level in preferably Mathematics, Economics or Business.
